Steven Knapp is a community activist who loves seeing neighbors come together to make their neighborhoods and cities more connected, more livable, and vibrant. By looking at the systems and processes in place with local governments, he helps communities help shape city and regional planning. Since moving to Austin, he’s become a local transit wonk and is often found advocating for improvements to the mass transit services in the region so that they connect more people with more places that they need to go.
Steven is a part of the startup community in Austin and brings a mindset of technology adaptation and behavioral change to his advocacy. His hope is for local governments and local transit agencies to become more nimble, more agile, and able to respond to needs of the community faster. From this, he sees mass transit agencies continuing to be an institution that serves and shapes a community if they are able to adapt to rapidly changing consumer behavior and transportation technology.
